The Hearing Well Club provides information, education and resources for people with hearing loss and their families. The Hearing Well Club helps to maximize a person’s residual hearing and to learn how to adjust to living with hearing loss. The Hearing Well Club hopes to eradicate the stigma associated with hearing loss and raise public awareness about the need for prevention, treatment, and regular hearing screenings throughout life.
Additionally, the Hearing Well Club seeks to improve hearing accessibility in the community.
WHAT IS THE HEARING WELL CLUB?
Meets 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2 pm. Clubhouse 3, DR 2.
- The Hearing Well Club, was formerly known as the SHH HI (Hearing Impaired) CLUB.
- Hearing Well Club is under the direction of the Recreation Department and has been approved by the Golden Rain Foundation.
- Membership meets in Laguna Woods Village facilities for persons residing in Laguna Woods Village.
- Non- residents are welcome but need to RSVP 5 days before the event for gate clearance.
OUR MISSION: To maximize whatever hearing we may have so we can stay connected to family, friends and enjoy activities to the fullest.
Hearing loss ranges from having difficulty understanding or hearing certain sounds to total deafness. We schedule a variety of educational programs that benefit people with hearing loss, their friends, family and those interested in hearing issues.
The Hearing Well Club is self-supported and seeks support of its members through membership and donations. Membership is $15 per calendar year and funds pay for the room rental, photo copies flyers, refreshments, name tags and office supplies. Please complete a membership form to join and become a member. Our guest speakers come from the hearing loss community and most are providers of goods and services. No goods or services are available for purchase at the meetings. The Hearing Well Club does not endorse any one provider, product or service. We provide information from a variety of sources so that you can educate yourself to make the best decisions for you and your hearing loss.
We encourage you to mingle with other members to learn about their experiences and coping strategies. You will learn you are not alone with your hearing loss. Learn how to survive and thrive in spite of hearing loss.
Our meetings are captioned and looped so you won’t miss a single word.
